I have been fortunate to have spent the better part of the last decade in nonprofit education, and the generosity of those involved never ceases to amaze me.
The growing online community of the nonprofit Small Publisher Association of North America (SPAN), whose mission revolves around the education of independent publishers, is a prime example of this generosity. On the web pages of SPANnet.org, our members contribute and share their wide-ranging knowledge about the complex and powerful publishing industry. From book production options to marketing strategies, SPAN members are finding resources that will help them bring their book to market (or to create and/or grow their independent small publishing businesses).
I’d like to thank all our members for their genuine and gracious contributions to this educational effort. To point out only a few who are utilizing this resource to its full potential, look at Cindy Downes and Deborah McCarragher. They are building expertise by interacting knowledgeably in group and forum threads; Multipurposing their Blog to build content and audience; And promoting their businesses and books on their My Page.
While you are surfing the SPANnet.org web site, be sure to visit Clay Clarkson's Books & Blog Group and Gail Kump's Distribution Truths Groups to learn about these important publishing topics. Also, Rene Ashton and Amit Goel have interesting Forum posts and are soliciting your comments on aspects this industry.
Most importantly, when you are surfing SPANnet.org and are ready to purchase publishing services, please patronize our Sponsors, Advertisers and Benefit providers. They provide quality, professional products to independent publishers and will help you bring your ideas to fruition. Not to mention, they help keep the lights shinning in SPAN’s nonprofit community.
